The Weekly Routine: Sewing & Creating
Every week starts with a fresh batch of fabrics, new designs, and long hours at the sewing machine. Each bag is crafted with care, blending durability and island-inspired style. Whether experimenting with new patterns or perfecting my signature styles, the creative process never stops.
The weekdays are all about preparation—cutting fabric, sewing each piece together, and ensuring every bag meets the Puka Maui standard. It’s a cycle of creating, refining, and staying ahead of demand to keep my market inventory full.
Weekend Adventures: Hitting the Farmers Markets
Come the weekend, it’s time to hit the road. Traveling up to three hours just to set up shop at different farmers markets has become the norm. Each event is an opportunity to connect with customers, hear their stories, and see firsthand how my creations bring joy to people’s lives.
Setting up my booth early in the morning, displaying my bags with pride, and engaging with customers all day is both exhilarating and exhausting. The energy of the markets, the conversations with fellow artisans, and the satisfaction of seeing my bags find new homes make every mile worth it.
The Reward of Hard Work
This journey has been anything but easy, but the rewards far outweigh the challenges. Seeing Puka Maui grow beyond Hawaii and flourish in a new place is a dream come true. Each stitch, each mile, and each market brings me closer to my vision of making Puka Maui a recognized name in handmade beach bags.
I’m grateful for the support from everyone who stops by my booth, follows along online, or carries a Puka Maui bag with them. This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to see where this adventure leads next!
Stay tuned for more updates, market schedules, and new designs coming soon!
