About the Creator

Where I started...

I'm Jordy Houglum, the mind behind Puka Maui. My journey began in 2020, right in the midst of the Covid-19 lockdown in Lahaina Maui. Seeking an escape from the indoor monotony, I turned to sewing, unknowingly stumbling upon a newfound passion. What started as a pastime quickly blossomed into a love affair.

From Maui to Florida

The pivotal moment came when I decided to transform my sewing hobby into a high school senior project at Maui Preparatory Academy, creating the concept of Puka Maui. Living in Maui, Hawaii I was always on the lookout for the perfect beach bag to house my essentials, from accessories to sunscreen and makeup. One day, I decided to take matters into my own hands and create my own beach bags. To my delight, they resonated with others and were a resounding success!
